Brazosport is a coastal community comprised of Clute, Freeport, Lake Jackson, and Surfside Beach and is just 50 miles south of Houston, Texas. This is your destination if you are looking for miles of sandy beaches, offshore fishing that is unmatched anywhere else in Texas, an educational Sea Center Texas aquarium and hatchery, Museum of Natural Science, a planetarium and two quality golf courses. Eco-tourism is alive and well with birding at its best and for history buffs, it doesn't get any better. This is where Stephen F. Austin first settled his colony of 300 and thus, the great state of Texas began.

A marine development, aquarium, and education center in Lake Jackson, Sea Center can produce 20 million fingerlings annually, primarily red drum and spotted sea trout, for release into Texas coastal waters. In addition to great aquariums, displays and 24-foot touch-tank, the complex also has a saltwater marsh demonstration boardwalk and a freshwater marsh that is ideal for birding. Closed on Mondays.

The Center is home to the longest running community theater on the Texas Gulf Coast and offers five major productions each season performing in either the arena or proscenium theater. The museum contains the largest seashell collection in the South along with fossils, including dinosaurs and mammoth bones. Other exhibits feature Texas coastal wildlife and a unique jade and ivory collection. The planetarium has shows every Tuesday. Visitors can also view images from the Hubble telescope in the lobby through View-Space.
